About Flight Software
The Flight Software team operates the On Board Computer, the "brain" of the satellite, that will run BAMA-2 when it is in orbit. Flight software works with the other UASpace sub teams to develop software and hardware to send commands to the cubesat and store data about the cubesat and the effectiveness of the drag sail during the BAMA-2 mission.
Flight Software Main Activities
Create test models
The team will create detailed models of BAMA-2 and its components to test software and cubesat functionality during building phases. Code Flight Computer
One of Flight Software's activities is to code the flight computer of BAMA-2 to communicate with its different components. They will work with the ground station team to signal to the cubesat to deploy payload and detumbling capabilities to stop the satellite from spinning in orbit. |
Build a Day in the Life model
Flight Software is building a low level power equivalent for BAMA-2 to understand the amount of power the BAMA-2 battery will use, as well as the other components. It will allow the team to determine factors of safety for inboard battery usage. Understand data
The team will consistently receive data from the satellite while it is in orbit about the BAMA-2 mission demonstration of the drag sail technology and interpret any CubeSat needs while in orbit. |
